This fourth installment in the popular Mario & Luigi RPG series begins with Princess Peach and her staff, with Mario and Luigi in tow, setting off for the mysterious Pi'illo Island - at the invitation of the island's equally mysterious owner, Dr. Snoozemore.

But after a warm welcome to the island - with Dr. Snoozemore oddly absent - disaster strikes. Princess Peach is kidnapped to Dreamland by a new enemy in the series, the ghostly bat king Antasma.
