Shenmue 1 & 2 HD Remaster Xbox One
Shenmue I and II were originally released for the Dreamcast in 2000 and 2001. Both titles combine jujitsu combat, quests, RPG elements and memorable mini-games into an open-world action adventure.
The series introduced many of the new aspects of modern gaming, including open world exploration and Quick Time Events .
They were one of the first games with a persistent open world, with a realistic day and night cycle, weather changes, shops that open and close and NPCs that go about their own business.
Its compelling epic story and living world created a generation of passionate fans, and the game is consistently included in lists of the greatest players of all time.
A story of revenge
In 1986, jujitsu artist Ryo Hazuki returns to the dojo of his father, Iwao Hazuki, only to witness his murder by a Chinese man, Lan Di. Lan Di steals a mysterious artifact known as the Dragon Mirror. Ryo vows to avenge his father's death and sets out to find Lan Di.
The first game in the series, Shenmue, begins the story as Ryo travels to Yokosuka, Japan, collecting clues about his father's murder and encountering slanderous gangsters along the way.
The sequel, Shenmue II, continues Ryo's quest, this time across the sea, to Hong Kong, China. Ryo ventures deeper into the criminal underworld, meeting martial arts masters who help him on his journey and provide insight into his father's death, and unravels the mysteries of the Dragon Mirror that his father hid.
